Nandalal Bose
Watercolour on postcard
×
In his depictions of fishermen and villagers, Nandalal often sought to convey the harmony-and even unity-between human beings and nature, often using ink wash techniques learned from Chinese and Japanese tradition. In the above sketch, Nandalal has used confident brush strokes that delineate the strength and movement of the fishermen of Gopalpur in Orissa as they go about their work.
