    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 75 8937 Nandalal Bose Pen & Ink on postcard

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, avidly recording the flora and fauna, the people of the place, their dress, their carriages, the headdress, the landscape, the festivals, and the architecture. In his sketches, Nandalal has experimented with the use of lines to add texture, vigour and life to his composition. The above illustration by him, is a quick rendition of a woman in various postures, as she performs her daily chores. It is executed with bold, thick ink strokes that suggests the modelling of the form.
