Nandalal in his artistic career sketched fervently with either pen or brush, subjects ranging from mythic and religious themes to nature and social reality. The above collage comprises of three smaller sketches, a woman doing her hair, the contours of an eye from the front compared with crane berry and a side view of an eye compared with a donkey as per the inscriptions. The illustrations are rendered with linear, fluid yet firm pencil strokes, demonstrating the keen observation of the artist's natural surroundings.
