Nandalal in his artistic career sketched fervently with either pen or brush, subjects ranging from mythic and religious themes to nature and social reality.The monochrome sketch on the left by the artist depicts a woman carrying pots. The background of the postcard is sketched with trees and bushes, on the top register of the postcard there is a baul singer with his instruments probably sitting under the tree. The monochrome illustration on the right side is a quick rendition of the woman sketched in the left illustration. Both the compositions are rendered with thick, bold ink strokes executed in calligraphic style adding grace and vigour to the compositions.
