Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life, flora and fauna or anything that he found fascinating. The above monochrome sketch by the artist depicts women workers pulling probably a heavy object. The composition is rendered with repetitive bold ink strokes that suggest the modelling of the forms and demeanour of the subject.
