    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 76 8956 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink and pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. In the above illustration the artist has sketched women labours pulling heavy material for the construction of the Kala Bhavan building as the inscription suggests. The curvaceous forms of the women are rendered with bold strokes delineated in the calligraphic style adding vigour and grace to the forms.
