Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. The above monochrome sketch depicts a bird sitting on the eggs as suggested in the inscription. The camouflaged composition is rendered with fluid, bold ink strokes delineated in the calligraphic style adding vitality to the composition.
