Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. The above sketch by the artist depicts three women on their way to work carrying their farming tools over their heads as a crane hovers over them. The figures are rendered with bold, rough strokes articulating the contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subjects.
