Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a man squatting as he holds a bow in his hand, executed in thick, bold strokes of ink. The folds of his dhoti and the movement of his hands while positioning himself with the bow have been keenly observed by the artist.
