Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch, he has depicted a scene from the Poush fair, where a woman is standing and holding a pot, probably to sell. This has been executed in bold, fluid yet firm ink strokes suggesting the demeanour of the subjects.
