Nandalal sketched fervently from his immediate surrounding environs, people in their everyday life, animals, flora and fauna or anything that he found fascinating, on postcard sized papers, with either pen or brush. In the above monochrome sketch the artist has depicted a man and a woman carrying pots on their heads and returning probably to their home. The composition is rendered with bold, fluid yet firm ink strokes delineating the contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subjects.
