Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching and drawing, instantly recording in the postcard sized papers his subjects from the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life, animals, flora and fauna or anything that he found fascinating. The above monochrome illustration the artist depicts a scene from the poush fair where a man selling balloons and flutes is surrounded with children. The sketch has been executed with fluid yet firm, bold ink strokes delineating and suggesting the demeanour of the forms.
