Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch, Nandalal has depicted a group of local people returning from the Poush fair as the inscription suggests. With the use of fluid yet firm, bold ink strokes the artist has delineated the forms bringing out the corporeality and demeanour of the subjects.
