Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch, Nandalal has depicted a scene from the fair where a man and a woman are standing near the pots probably to sell. The monochrome illustration is executed with bold, fluid yet firm ink strokes delineating and suggesting the demeanour of the subjects.
