Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch he has depicted a woman praying with folded hands to a bird perched atop a bamboo tree. The fluid handling of the line and thick ink strokes, suggest the modelling of the forms lending volume and dynamism to the sketch.
