Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted two women, one of them holds a kalash, returning after a prayer with their children. The fluid handling of the line and thick brush strokes results in the realistic representation of the figures.
