Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a man carrying a large pot over his shoulder as he walks along a path. The sketch has been executed with short, quick strokes that suggest the modelling of the body and convey the hurried movement of the subject.
