Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a man squatting as he holds a bow in his hand in thick, bold strokes of ink. The folds of his dhoti and the movement of his hands have been keenly observed by the artist.
