Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this postcard, he has sketched a rickshaw on his way to Bolpur, as the inscription suggests. He has also depicted a dog and two people walking along the way, executed in bold, thick strokes of ink. The trees rendered on both side of the road lends the sense of perspective.
