    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 81 9080 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink on paper

×
In this sketch, Nandalal has depicted the portrait of a man executed in thick, bold strokes of ink. He has studied the proportions of the human face, dividing it into five portions. In his book, 'On Art' the artist writes of human anatomy, "In depicting normal human figures, proportions may vary owing to age and health, country and climate, racial stock and economic condition. But in spite of all such variations, all human figures are united in general structure, in forms and function of muscles and tendons, in shapes and characters of their various limbs."
