Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a woman draped in saree walking with a child over a path. This has been executed in quick, bold strokes of ink delineating the forms and soft smudge strokes of pencil colour adds grace to the composition.
