Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a man carrying curd across a stick on his shoulder, rendered against the backdrop of a palm tree. This has been executed in fluid, bold strokes of ink and soft strokes of pencil colour lends grace and spirit to the form of the figure.
