Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this postcard, he has depicted a man travelling on a bullock-cart amidst a rural landscape. Executed in fluid, soft strokes of colour pencil in tonal variation and bold ink strokes delineating the contours of the form adding grace and life to the composition.
