Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a family travelling on a bullock cart amidst a serene landscape. This has been executed with fluid, smidge strokes of colour pencil and ink delineating the forms, adding grace and vigour in the composition.
