    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 82 9108 Nandalal Bose Coloured pencil, pen and ink on paper

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted two rural women carrying pitchers, trying to cross the river to reach Santiniketan in flood. This colourful composition has been rendered in soft, smudged strokes of pencil colours in tonal variation adding grace and life to the sketch.
