Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment with its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the elements of the composition. In this sketch, he has rendered a dog lying on its stomach. Depicted from the back, the artist has chosen a moment when the animal is at ease, to study its physiognomy.
