Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a man sleeping under a net, amid a forest, executed in various strokes of pen and ink. The rendition of the dense vegetation in rhythmic, dark strokes of ink adds depth in the composition.
