Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this postcard, he has rendered a large group of cows grazing and a cowherd, standing on a hilly terrain, executed in rhythmic, thick linear ink strokes that delineate the contours of the form, suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
