Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. In this postcard, he has sketched a dog and various birds scavenging and eating a carcass. He has rendered the subject in bold thick strokes of ink delineating the forms and capturing the immediate moment.
