Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a house and a cat lying on the outer wall of it. He has also mentioned the address of the house inscribed on its wall. The artist has rendered the sketch with fluid, thin strokes of ink in calligraphic style, adding grace and vigour to the composition.
