Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this postcard, he has depicted an old man holding a stick and walking along with a lady in gown, executed in thick, bold strokes of ink. The man in the sketch is an artist himself as mentioned in the inscription, conjured from his memory.
