Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above rough sketch the artist has depicted a mountainscape with set of instructions to render the illustration. The composition is rendered with soft, linear pencil strokes articulating the trees, and roads, sparing much detail. The lines are rough, fluid yet firm invigorating vigour in the composition.
