    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 92 9338 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink and pencil on postcard

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching and drawing, instantly recording in the post card sized papers his subjects from the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life, animals, flora and fauna or anything that he found fascinating. He understood the significance of the use of lines and experimented frequently in their execution from fine to being thick contouring lines. The above pencil sketch by Nandalal, depicts a family of four, walking towards their destination. He has executed the figures with bold pencil strokes depicting the characteristic facial features, and demeanour of the forms.
