Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. This sketch portrays a baby lying down on a charpai under a tree and a crow grazing the baby. The fluid handling of the strokes and their strong delineation in the calligraphic style, suggest the modelling of the form, highlighting the facial features of the figure.
