Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a tribal child wrapped in a embroider drapery and holding a bowl. This has been executed in fluid, fine lines and its strong delineation in the calligraphic style adds grace and vitality to the sketch.
