Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this sketch, he has depicted a woman in side profile, sitting outside a house and stitching a cloth, executed in fluid, thick strokes of ink, defining the contours of the forms. He has also rendered in fine lines, the sketch of three puppies playing among themselves and a crow sitting in the middle, capturing a movement in the composition.
