Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscape, figure drawings and animals. In this postcard, the fluid, fine strokes of ink, results in the realistic representation of a fish. He has used the fine, linear strokes of blue ink to capture the movement of water.
