Nandalal's exploration of the different ways of delineating a line allowed him to experiment with its varying forms adding rhythm, vigour and life to the form of his figures. Here he has rendered a sketch of a woman sitting on the floor with her child, by a wall and cooking. The fluid handling of the line suggests the modelling of the body and the smudged pencil strokes highlight the facial features, sparing much detail.
