Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this pen and ink sketch, he has depicted a woman holding a basket in her hand, rendered in fluid, fine strokes of ink suggesting the modelling of the form.
