Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching and drawing, instantly recording in the postcard sized papers his subjects from the surrounding environs, people in everyday life, animals, flora and fauna or anything that he found fascinating. A quick rendition of an old man carrying a basket in one hand and probably spreading seeds from the other, with black, bold ink strokes articulating the basic contours. The lines are fluid yet firm invigorating rhythm and dynamism to the composition.
