Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. The above pen and ink sketch by the artist depicts a potter wheeling the pot under a thatched roof, executed swiftly with bold, linear ink strokes marked over the pencil sketch. The fluid yet firm handling of the lines adds vigour and grace to the composition.
