Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything he found fascinating. The above monochrome illustration by the artist depicts a woman standing with a bucket and a broom probably waiting to clean the area. The composition is rendered with bold, linear strokes delineating the contours of the forms and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
