In this sketch, Nandalal has depicted a herd of deer, in various stances, in sharp, fluid strokes of the pencil. As the inscription suggests, he has reproduced the form from the medieval miniature style of indigenous painting by studying the works of old masters to enrich his artistic vocabulary.
