    Nandalal Bose

A Sketch from Album No. 98 9527 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink on paper

×
Nandalal had some knowledge of pre-modern Indian painting styles early in his career and with the passage of time, he began to more intensively acquaint himself with its achievements. In this sketch, as the inscription suggests, he has reproduced the form of the deer from the 17th century murals of the Mattanchery Palace in Cochin by studying the works of old masters.
