This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'Elephants' executed from his memory and experiences. The painting here depicts a figure of an elephant rendered in a childlike playfulness by the artist. To enliven the landscape the grass appears to be swaying with wind.This painting was purchased from the collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose.
