This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'Wild Animals' executed from his memory and experiences. This painting is one of the few works done in this style where Nandalal has used colour unlike others which were executed in monochrome. The painting depicts two animals figures on a hilly terrain. Nandalal accentuates the ridges of the hills by using different tonal variations. This painting was purchased from collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose.
