This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'The Clouds? executed from his memory and experiences. The collection of his works in NGMA has several of these paintings, where the artist has depicted a cloudy sky, rendered in soft curled brush strokes. This painting was purchased from collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose, children of Nandalal Bose.
