This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'Hills' executed from his memory and experiences. Nandalal has painted this composition in a dramatic gesture, the peak of the hill diagonally piercing the sky. This painting was purchased from collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose, children of Nandalal Bose.
