This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'Hills' executed from his memory and experiences. Nandalal painted the composition in an effortless manner, using a swift brush strokes to create the natural form of the hill and to accentuate its topography. This painting was purchased from collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose, children of Nandalal Bose.
