This painting belongs to a series of monochromatic ink and watercolour paintings inspired by the Sumi-e Japanese technique the artist employed in the last phase of his life. The subject here being 'Hills and Birds' executed from his memory and experiences. The artist has here depicted a bird sitting on a hill rendered in a few brush strokes with mere dabs and dashes of colour. This painting was purchased from the collection of Shri Biswaroop Bose and Smt. Nivedita Bose, children of Nandalal Bose.
